Our Commitment To Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available via our homepage, at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested, and in the footer of most of our regular pages.

How Information is Collected

The Centennial Heritage Museum and the Victorian Tea Society contract with four trusted online services to collect information and receive payments. The use of these services is of value to your privacy because they have the expertise and security infrastructure to protect your most sensitive data (such as credit card numbers) far more effectively than we can. Each of these services maintains its own Privacy Policy which you can read by following the links to their sites.

PayPal - Some online payments for goods, services, or donations are collected by PayPal. Your credit card, debit card, or PayPal account information goes only to PayPal. PayPal provides us with only the information we need to fulfill your order and/or provide you with a receipt.

EventBrite - Some event ticket orders are handled by EventBrite, which collects and provides to us the information needed to fulfill your order. EventBrite in turn uses PayPal to collect payment under the same terms as above.

Brown Paper Tickets - Some event ticket orders are handled by Brown Paper Tickets, which collects and provides to us information needed to fulfill your order. Your credit card or debit card account information goes only to Brown Paper Tickets. Brown Paper Tickets provides us with only the information we need to fulfill your order.

ConstantContact - Newsletter subscriptions and other bulk mailings are handled by ConstantContact. ConstantContact has a strong anti-spam policy. Every mailing contains a easy-to-find link allowing you to unsubscribe. If we violate this policy, we will lose the right to use their service. At this time, ConstantContact collects only your e-mail address for us. However, we reserve the right to collect mailing addresses and other information in the future.

The Information We Collect

This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the Centennial Heritage Museum website and via our periodic e-mail newsletters.

In addition, this notice applies to our usage of information collected on our behalf for event tickets via EventBrite and Brown Paper Tickets, purchases made via PayPal, and newsletter subscriptions via ConstantContact as described in the previous section.

On some of our pages, you can order products or event tickets and register to receive materials. The types of personal information collected at these pages are:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Gender (rarely asked)
  • School or group affiliation
  • Optional information regarding special needs
  • (Credit/Debit Card Information - available only to PayPal or Brown Paper Tickets, never provided to us)

On some pages, you can submit information about other people. For example, if you order tickets to one of our events you may be asked to provide information about other members of your party. In this circumstance, the types of personal information collected are:

  • Gender (rarely asked)
  • Optional information regarding special needs

The Way We Use Information:

We use the information you provide about yourself when placing an order only to fulfill that order. In the case of event tickets, we use group affiliation and optional special needs information to provide appropriate access and seating arrangements. In certain instances, we use gender information to help us provide you with specialized event seating or pre-event information.

We use the information you provide about someone else when placing an order only to fulfill that order. In the case of event tickets, we use group affiliation, special needs, and gender information as described above. We may also use name and address information to send out special event materials in advance of the event. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to fulfill the order.

We use the information you provide about yourself when subscribing to our e-mail newsletters to send you the requested newsletters and other notices and announcements directly related to the museum and/or the Victorian Tea Society. We never sell your e-mail address, nor do we share it with outside parties without your permission.

We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive. Such addresses are not used for other purposes or shared with outside parties without your consent.

Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

Our Commitment To Children's Privacy:

Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information at our website from those we actually know are under 13. An area of our site is designed specifically for children, but we do not collect any information on the pages in that area, nor do we encourage children to seek out pages that do collect information.
